Zipwhip Reports Record Annual Recurring Revenue Growth for Landline & Toll-Free Texting Services

Seattle-Based Business Messaging SaaS Provider Finishes The Year With Monthly Recurring Revenue Up 356% Compared To December 2014.

Zipwhip, a business messaging SaaS provider, today announced that their 2015 annual growth rate on their monthly recurring revenue from landline and toll-free texting was up 356% compared to December 2014. Messaging traffic volume also increased 300% in 2015. The company is adding approximately $400k in ARR each month and expects to hit $10M in ARR by third quarter 2016.

Zipwhip’s cloud texting platform enables businesses to send and receive text messages on existing landline or toll-free phone numbers. Business communication is done directly through Zipwhip’s web, desktop, and smartphone applications, which push texts to consumers’ default messaging app on their mobile phones. Zipwhip also offers an API to integrate text messaging into enterprise software. These apps help businesses address the growing demand for text messaging as a primary form of business communication. In a recent study of 350 small business customers, 85% say they use Zipwhip because customers prefer texting over voice calls or email. The top three use cases listed by respondents were: customer service, appointment scheduling, and sales engagement.

"Our growth has been great, and more importantly the industry has taken form over the last year. We plan on staying focused on improving our product and building our team, but the market is too big not to raise another round of capital."

John Lauer, CEO

Zipwhip has attracted business customers from dozens of verticals, but they’ve seen most rapid growth in insurance, automotive, staffing, fitness, transportation, radio, and medical. These businesses rely heavily on existing business phone numbers for customer engagement and have seen immediate results after adding text messaging support. “It’s very common for new Zipwhip subscribers to see unsolicited texts showing up in their inbox upon enabling their numbers for texting. Consumers are unknowingly texting back to landline phone calls stating that they’re busy and to text them instead. We’re in the business of making more connections—consumers are not going to stop texting.” stated John Lauer, Zipwhip CEO.

In addition to equipping businesses with texting software, Zipwhip also boasts high-throughput enterprise-to-person (E2P) messaging on toll-free phone numbers thanks to its direct connectivity with every tier-1 wireless operator. Zipwhip’s wireless network connectivity plays a central role in the growth of the business messaging industry as a whole. By enabling 1,000 messages-per-second throughput, MMS picture messaging, and handset delivery receipts, Zipwhip is enabling enterprise messaging for contact center customer care, text alerts and notifications on branded toll free numbers. Businesses are seeing an increase in customer engagement, a cost savings in the service center, and a higher net promoter score.

“Our growth has been great, and more importantly the industry has taken form over the last year. We plan on staying focused on improving our product and building our team, but the market is too big not to raise another round of capital.” said Lauer.
